My name is Chris Daniel, and I am a geek living in Portland, Oregon, US.I think I’ve always been a geek, but I began playing with computers — the stereotypical geek’s signature toys — around the middle of 2000. Since then, my life has largely revolved around the computing world in one way or another. I use and play around with Linux, mostly on the desktop in my usage. When I lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, I was the sysadmin at a local company, overseeing a network of 50+ mostly Linux servers. I have a few less significant hobbies, including urban exploration and (very, very amateur) photography.
In the entertainment department, I enjoy listening to music and watching well-made television shows (no advertisements!) and films. I won’t list my favourites here, because I will forget some important ones or will neglect to update this when I should add one or two.
I am a rather neat and orderly person, and that is often reflected in my work. Order and elegance are pleasing to me when necessary or beneficial — such as when designing a new system for work — but chaos and decay can be equally beautiful, as can be observed in the many photographs around the net from urban explorers. Somewhere between every set of extremes is a point of equilibrium, where things work best for everyone or everything involved. I strive to reach that balance in everything I do.
